stands on the same hill as Casaglia, ancient medieval burg within the municipality of San Gimignano, on one of the Via Francigena routes and overlooking the valley that in ancient times was the theatre of armed clashes between the Guelphs and the Ghibellines. They fought each other to gain control over Tuscany's various areas and specifically: "during the Casaglia war, in 1199, the Colle and San Gimignano armies fought that of Poggibonsi over boundaries and dominance in the area, until the boundaries and sovereignty were reviewed and carefully established." The magnificent location on which the villa stands affords splendid views: on clear and bright days, your sight can soar over the Apuan Alps, the Pistoia Apennines, the Monte Maggio, the Pratomagno and the hills descending towards the sea; the hills in particular offer a stupendous view from the villa's gardens.
The road leading to the villa offers a very special scenery to those who love nature, as it winds its way through woods and fields, destination of hikes and of horse and mountain bike rides.
The villa, a double deck, is a typical Tuscan farmhouse; it has been registered in the municipality of San Gimignano since 1800, but it was certainly built earlier, at a time when country cottages were not yet registered.
It has been wisely renovated by the owners while maintaining its original character: the external structure of the cottage has been left unchanged, restoring the degraded portions with ancient recovered materials from the same era as the original structure and renovating the interior spaces in faithful Tuscan style.
The large garden, about 4000mq, in which the private use pool is located, affords an enchanting vista over the surrounding valley and hills. The owners take care of the garden personally and with passion, keeping it always well stocked with plants and flowers whose colours and aromas give a pleasant, comfortable and relaxing feel to the villa's exterior spaces.
The pool (approximately 8x16 metres), located in the sunniest part of the garden, is kept open year-round in order to give a more pleasant look to the property. The owners manage directly its cleaning and its maintenance in perfect working order. The pool is kept open even at night with inside and outside lighting regulated in accordance with the guests' personal requirements.
From the pool's deck, well equipped with deck chairs and beach umbrellas, you enjoy a beautiful view over San Gimignano's medieval towers: a peaceful and restful environment that favours a relaxing stay.
The garden, as well as the threshing yard adjacent to the villa, is equipped with tables and chairs for enjoyable open air dinners and lunches. A barbecue area and a wood-fired oven are also available.
Villa Renaio: the villa's interior
The
villa, let on an exclusive basis, overlooks the private garden and the pool; divided into two floors, joined with a characteristic, and original outdoor stone staircase, that dating at the time of construction of the building (approximately year 1800). Its interior has been renovated with care by the owners, using materials consistent with the cottage's origins. The ceiling is typical of the old Tuscan farmhouses, with flat terracotta bricks and wooden beams and rafters; one room has a vaulted brick ceiling.
The comfortable furnishing is in the country style, with the characteristic furniture of the Tuscan tradition.
Rental of the entire villa will accommodate twelve persons in total, with the possibility of having two extra beds (sofa bed) Children up to 12 years included in the rent.
The villa is divided into two floors consists of:
Ground floor: 3 double and 1 single bedroom, a bathroom with tub and shower, an ensuite bathroom with shower. Little kitchen and spacious living room with tv/sat-dvd/cd player, wireless internet and access to the garden, there is, also a little room accessible by a wooden staircase with four steps as a private playground for children with various games, pillows, puzzles.
Upper floor: 2 double bedrooms, 1 bathroom with Jacuzzi bathtub and a bathroom with shower. Dining room and living room with fireplace with wireless internet, living room with internet access,pc, cd/player, library and, small terrace overlooking the towers of San Gimignano. Kitchen equiped with fridge, freezeer, dishwasher, a gas stove and, woodstove , with an electric oven, and a heated oven with wood, coffee maker, toaster, microwave, kettle, coffee machine with 200 coffee pod for week, small cellar with 20 bottles of wine from Tuscany.
The bedrooms are air conditioned.
The villa has a room with billiard table, laundry room with washer / dryer and fitness area.
