Holiday villas in San Gimignano, Siena Tuscany

Villa La Chiesina San Gimignano

The Holiday villa apartment San Gimignano Chianti Siena Tuscany Villas Chianti villa was an ancient historical structure going back to before the year 1200, originally the chapel "Santa Maria Church", near the burg of Casaglia. Traces and information about the historical chapel are found in the book "CASAGLIA TERRA DEL CROCO" ["Casaglia, the land of the crocus"] by Giuseppe Mantelli, and in the "Dizionario geografico, fisico, storico della Toscana" ["Geographical, physical and historical dictionary of Tuscany"] by Emanuele Repetti (...CASAGLIA and CASAGLIUOLA in Val d'Elsa. Two burgs that had their own parish. (S. Maria di Casagliola...) Over the centuries, the chapel was deconsecrated to become, first a watchtower, and then a place where the farmers of the surrounding countryside would hold their rural festivals and where they also kept their farming implements.
The owners have personally restored the villa, under the careful supervision of the municipality's technical staff, to ensure compliance with all architectural and scenic constraints concerning the building and the surrounding landscape: what remained of the ruins was carefully demolished, preserving the original stones, which were then used in the reconstruction; old and similar materials were used to replace what was missing; the floor was built with old and original floor tiles from the ancient complex of the Spedale di Santa Maria della Scala [Santa Maria della Scala Hospital] located before Siena's Duomo [cathedral]. Even the small belfry was rebuilt and a bronze bell acquired from an antique shop was installed.
The villa, to be let for exclusive use, is surrounded by cypresses that provide shade and is especially suited for relaxation and open-air lunches and dinners in full privacy and peace; the surrounding garden is equipped with tables, chairs and a cement barbecue. Behind the villa, on a hillock, is the pool for the guests' exclusive use; it is large, it has a convenient entrance ladder and it affords a view over the countryside and the towns of the Val d'Elsa. The owners personally look after the cleaning and maintenance of the pool (open from May to October) as well as the upkeep and care of the garden.
The deck around the pool is equipped with beach umbrellas, deck chairs, a table and a hot water shower with solar heating.
